This disc consists of Merbecke's complete surviving polyphonic output. He was one of the early converts to Protestantism in England, and apparently attempted to destroy all of his early musical output. Merbecke also published a set of simple tunes for a Booke of Common Praier Noted (1550) and many of these continue to be sung in churches around the world.
