This is a recording by a large choir of men and boys. The 1589 publication of motets "Cantiones Sacrae" is Byrd's most polished and technically intricate. This is only a relatively small selection from the publication.

The later publication (1591) does not represent a new style so much as a recycling of material which didn't make it into the first publication. A recording:

Byrd: Cantiones Sacrae (1591)

There was also a joint publication with Tallis in 1575:

Byrd: Cantiones Sacrae (1575)
The Choir of New College Oxford - Edward Higginbottom
CRD 3492
Tallis: Motets from Cantiones Sacrae (1575)
The Choir of New College Oxford - Edward Higginbottom
CRD 3429

The 3 Byrd volumes have been reissued as a 3CD set, CRD 5003.
