Comments: A beautiful collection of baroque "Lamenti". The instrumental playing is first rate, as usual with Goebel: colourful, sweet, but brisk when needed, and enriched by Lindberg's wonderful theorbo. Anne Sophie von Otter has a fine voice, maybe a bit out of range in Vivaldi; in my opinion, other singers can do better in this repertoire. Monteverdi's "Con che soavità" was also released in The Artist's Album of Annie Sofie von Otter (Deutsche Grammophon 457 688-2 G H (1 CD)).
