The present recording makes the case that these pieces were not actually written by Antoine Forqueray at all, but by his son Jean-Baptiste Forqueray (1699-1782) who published them under his father's name in 1747. The present rendition also adopts orchestral arrangements which emphasize the modernity of the music.
