E' bandito il terzo Concorso Internazionale per gruppi madrigalistici per celebrare e divulgare le opere del musicista coccagliese "Luca Marenzio".

Pezzi d'obbligo:
Un madrigale di Luca Marenzio scelto tra i sei sotto elencati:
A. Madrigali in due parti
- A quattro voci:
Tutto'l dì piango (da Il primo libro de'Madrigali a quattro voci, 1585).
- A cinque voci:
Ben ho del caro oggetto (da Il sesto libro de'Madrigali a cinque voci, 1594).
- A sei voci:
Leggiadrissima, eterna Primavera (da Il quinto libro de'Madrigali a sei voci, 1591).
B. Madrigali in una sola parte
- A quattro voci:
Non vidi mai (da Il primo libro de'Madrigali a quattro voci, 1585).
- A cinque voci:
Basciami mille volte (da Il quinto libro de'Madrigali a cinque voci, 1585).
- A sei voci:
Amatemi ben mio (da Il quinto libro de'Madrigali a sei voci, 1591)

Brani liberi: almeno un altro madrigale di Luca Marenzio e brani di libera scelta, per una durata complessiva non superiore a 20 minuti senza limitazione di epoca e stile.

REGOLAMENTO DEL CONCORSO
1. La prova di qualificazione e il concorso saranno sottoposti al giudizio di una giuria internazionale composta da esperti di chiara fama. Le valutazioni della giuria fanno riferimento a specifiche norme dell'apposito regolamento.
2. Tutte le prove saranno pubbliche e si svolgeranno presso il convento dell'Annunciata sul Monte Orfano nei giorni 8 e 9 Settembre 1999.
3. I complessi classificati ai primi tre posti avranno l'obbligo di partecipare al concerto dei premiati, con le modalità fissate dal Comitato Organizzatore, sentito il parere della giuria del concorso.
4. Durante il periodo del concorso i complessi non potranno partecipare ad altre manifestazioni pubbliche.
5. L'Amministrazione Comunale si riserva il diritto di apportare al seguente bando le modifiche che dovessero essere ritenute opportune, nonché di prorogare o annullare il concorso.
6. L'Amministrazione Comunale si riserva il diritto di registrazione e radioteletrasmissione delle musiche eseguite durante il concorso, senza alcun compenso agli esecutori.
7. Ogni eventuale reclamo dovrà essere presentato immediatamente e per iscritto al Comune di Coccaglio. Per qualunque controversia è competente il Foro di Brescia.
8. L'Amministrazione Comunale non è tenuta a risarcire i danni di nessun genere o rifondere spese ad alcuno dei concorrenti.
9. La partecipazione al presente concorso implica per ogni concorrente o gruppi di concorrenti l'accettazione incondizionata delle norme del presente bando.

MODALITÀ' DI ISCRIZIONE

1. Le domande di iscrizione, accompagnate dalla tassa di L. 50.000 per persona, dovranno essere redatte sugli appositi moduli allegati e inviate entro Sabato 12 Giugno 1999 al seguente indirizzo:

2. Si fa presente che ciascun gruppo partecipante alla competizione dovrà elencare nella domanda di iscrizione i pezzi che intende eseguire.
L'indicazione dei pezzi dovrà essere corredata con:
a) nome, cognome, luogo e data di nascita ed eventualmente di morte dell'autore di ciascun pezzo;
b) durata di ciascun pezzo;
c) casa editrice di ciascun pezzo pubblicato

3. Ciascun gruppo dovrà inviare, sotto sanzione dell'esclusione dalla competizione, la partitura di ciascun pezzo sia d'obbligo che di libera scelta. Tale partitura non sarà restituita, dovendo restare agli atti del concorso.

4. L'organizzazione declina ogni responsabilità per eventuali riproduzioni di partiture i cui diritti siano riservati.

REGOLAMENTO DELLA GIURIA
1. La giuria è composta da note personalità musicali italiane e straniere, ed è presieduta dal Sindaco o suo delegato del Comune di Coccaglio che presenzia ai lavori senza diritto di voto. In caso di assenza del presidente, la giuria nomina lo stesso, eleggendolo tra i suoi componenti.

2. Il giudizio è espresso al termine di ogni prova. Per le prove precedenti la finale, il giudizio può limitarsi alla semplice indicazione di idoneità. Il giudizio finale è espresso in punteggio aritmetico quale risulta dalla media dei voti formulati dai singoli commissari, escludendo il voto più alto e quello più basso. I giudizi sono resi pubblici mediante affissione ad apposito albo al termine di ciascuna prova (cfr. Min. Turismo e spettacolo, circ. n. 2877/TL 2 del 2 aprile 1980).

3. In tutte le prove, l'esecuzione di ogni brano è giudicata immediatamente. Nella valutazione analitica di ogni esecuzione vanno tenuti presenti i seguenti elementi:
a) intonazione
b) vocalità
c) interpretazione
Ad ogni complesso viene assegnato, dai singoli commissari, il punteggio espresso in centesimi per ogni fattore valutativo di ciascuna esecuzione.

4. La graduatoria della prova finale è determinata dalla somma dei punti eseguiti in ciascuna esecuzione.
La giuria ha la facoltà di non assegnare i premi ai complessi che non abbiano ottenuto almeno il punteggio:
di 90/100 per il primo premio;
di 80/100 per il secondo premio;
di 70/100 per il terzo premio.

5. Per le elaborazioni numeriche la giuria è affiancata da collaboratori esterni. Tutte le operazioni della giuria sono verbalizzate da un segretario che può essere coadiuvato da persona o persone designate.

6. La composizione della giuria non può essere variata nel corso della competizione. Solo in casi di forza maggiore il presidente della giuria integra il collegio giudicante con altro o altri componenti.

7. Il giudizio della giuria è definitivo e inappellabile.

8. La giuria terrà una riunione prima della competizione, per uniformare i criteri di valutazione e i significati da attribuire ai fattori valutativi.

NORME PER L'ISCRIZIONE E CARATTERISTICHE DEL CONVEGNO-LABORATORIO SUL MADRIGALE
Le lezioni pratiche del convegno-laboratorio sulla prassi esecutiva del madrigale saranno tenute da Anthony Rooley, Evelyn Tubb e Andrew King membri del gruppo madrigalistico inglese "The Consort of Musicke . Gli insegnanti faranno un'audizione degli iscritti nella giornata di Domenica 5 Settembre 1999 per selezionare chi partecipa al laboratorio in qualità di allievo effettivo. Chi non sia stato selezionato potrà comunque partecipare come uditore. Nella scelta degli allievi effettivi sarà data precedenza a persone già organizzate in gruppi (verranno fatte audizioni per verificarne il livello; si prega perciò di presentarsi con brani già preparati). In seguito si faranno audizioni per persone non organizzate in gruppi, ma disposte a venire poste in gruppi creati per l'occasione che si svilupperanno durante le giornate di lavoro. Nella domanda di iscrizione dovrà essere indicata la preferenza ad essere uditore o allievo effettivo.
La tassa di iscrizione per tutti (allievi ed uditori) è fissata in L. 150.000 a persona, da inviare entro Sabato 26 Giugno 1999 tramite vaglia postale a "Convegno-Laboratorio Luca Marenzio" c/o Sede Municipale 25030 COCCAGLIO (BS) ITALIA.
I partecipanti, sia effettivi che uditori, avranno libero accesso a tutte le manifestazioni dal 2 all'11 Settembre 1999.

NOTE LOGISTICHE
Pernottamento:
Sono disponibili alberghi convenzionati a tre e quattro stelle e trattorie a Coccaglio e nei centri vicini della Franciacorta.
E' preferibile che i partecipanti alle manifestazioni giungano dotati di un mezzo di spostamento autonomo, al fine di essere alloggiati anche nei paesi vicini a Coccaglio.
La segreteria comunicherà ai partecipanti informazioni sui luoghi disponibili per l'alloggio, in seguito alla domanda di iscrizione.

Pasti:
Vari ristoranti e trattorie sono disponibili per l'ottima cucina locale a Coccaglio e nella Franciacorta a prezzi diversi.
L'Amministrazione Comunale e la segreteria del concorso saranno lieti di offrire ai partecipanti la migliore accoglienza e le proprie strutture per lo svolgimento dell'iniziativa.

THIRD INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION

The Third International Competition reserved for madrigalistic groups is announced in order to celebrate and spread the works of the musician from Coccaglio "Luca Marenzio".

Obligatory pieces:
One madrigal by Luca Marenzio to be chosen among the six following ones:

A. Two-parts madrigals
- four voices:
Tutto'l dì piango (four voices, BOOK I, 1585)
- five voices:
Ben ho del caro oggetto (five voices, BOOK VI, 1594)
- six voices:
Leggiadrissima, eterna Primavera (six voices, BOOK V, 1591)

B. One part madrigals
- four voices:
Non vidi mai ( four voices, BOOK I, 1585)
- five voices:
Basciami mille volte ( five voices, BOOK V, 1585)
- six voices:
Amatemi ben mio ( six voices, BOOK V, 1585)

Pieces at choice of any time and style and at least another madrigal of Luca Marenzio of a general length not over 20 minutes.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION
1. The preliminary qualification test and the competition are submitted to the judgement af an international jury made up of experts of great renoun. The evaluations of the jury refer to the specific rules of the special regulation.
2. All examinations are made public and take place 8Th and 9th September 1999 at the Monastery of the Annunciata.
3. The groups classed first, second and third are obliged to take part in the concert of the winners, according to the formalities fixed by the Organizing Committee, after hearing the judgement of the jury of the competition.
4. During the period of the competition the groups are not allowed to take part in any other public performance.
5. The Town Council reserves the right to alter this announcement if necessary and also to delay or cancel the competition.
6. The Town Council reserves the right to record, radio and telecast the pieces performed during the competition without any reward to the performers.
7. Every possible complaint is to be made immediately and in writing to the Town Council of Coccaglio. The Court of Brescia is competent to deal with any controversy.
8. The Town Council is not bound to pay compensation for any kind of demages or to refund the performers'expenses.
9. The partecipation in this competition implies that every competitor or every group of competitors is obliged to accept the rules of this announcement unconditionally.

FORMALITIES OF ENROLMENT IN THE COMPETITION AND PARTICULAR RULES
1. The application (please use the enclosed application form) and the entrance fee of Lit. 50.000 (fifty thousand lire) must be sent to the following address by Saturday 12th June 1999:

2. Every group taking part in the competition is to list the pieces at choice in the application form. The indication of the pieces must be followed by:
a) Christian name, surname, birthplace, date of birth and, if necessary, of death of the composer of every piece;
b) length of every piece;
c) publishing-house of every published piece.

3. Every group is to send the score both of every obligatory piece and piece at choice under pain ofexclusion from the competition. Such score is to be filed and cannot be returned.

4. The Organizing Committee declines every responsability in case of reproduction of scores protected by copyrights.

REGULATIONS OF THE JURY
1. The jury is made up of Italian and foreign personalities wellknown in the world of music. The Mayor of the Town of Coccaglio presides over it and attends its sessions without any right to vote. The chairman being eventually absent, the jury appoints a substitute chosen among its members.
2. The judgement is passed at the end of every examinations. As for the examinations before the final one the judgement can be limited to the simple acknowledgement of ability. The last judgement corresponds to the arithmetic average of the marks given by every single member of the Committee except for the best and the worst marks. The judgements are made public at the end of every examination by bill-posting on the special list.

3. The performance of every piece is judged immediately in all examinations. In the analitic judgement of every performance the following elements are taken into consideration:
a) intonation
b) vocality
c) interpretation
Every single member of the Committee assigns every group a mark in hundreths for every factor of evaluation of every performance.
4. The final classification is determined by the sum of the marks obtained for every performance.
The jury has the right not to award any prize to the groups that have not obtained at least the following marks:
90/100 for the first prize;
80/100 for the second prize;
70/100 for the third prize.
5. The jury is supported by appointed collaborators in the numerical elaborations. All proceedings from the jury are recorded by a secretary who can be helped by appointed people.
6. The composition of the jury cannot be changed during the competition. The chairman of the jury can complete the Bench by adding one or more members, but only owing to a cause beyond control.
7. The judgement of the jury is definitive and unappealable.
8. The jury is to meet before the competition in order to make uniform both the principles of evaluation and the meanings to attribute to the factors of evaluation.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE ENROLMENT AND PECULIARITIES OF THE LABORATORY MEETING ON THE MADRIGAL

The practical lessons of the laboratory meeting on the executive practice of the madrigal will be held by Anthony Rooley, Evelyn Tubb and Andrew King of the English madrigalistic group "The Consort of Musicke". The teachers will give an audition to the competitors on Sunday 5th September 1999 in order to select the ones who will take part in the laboratory as regular attendants. Not selected people will be allowed to participate as hearers. Priority in the selection for regular attendants will be given to the people already organized in groups, (auditions will be given to examine the level of ability of the competitors; these latter are therefore requested to sit for the examinations provided with ready pieces). Afterwards the teachers will give audition to not group organized people who will be ready to be part of groups forming during the working days. The competitors will have to indicate their preference for being either hearers or regular attendants in the application form.
The entrance fee both for hearers and for regular attendants amounts to Lit. 150.000 a person and it is to be sent by postal order within Saturday 26th June 1999 to:

Both regular attendants and hearers will have no charge for admission to all the performances from 2nd to 11th September 1999.

LOGISTIC NOTES FOR THE COMPETITORS
Overnight Stays:
You can find hotels and inns in Coccaglio and in its neighbourhood (Franciacorta). It would be better if you had a personal transport so to have an accomodation in the neighbourhood of Coccaglio in case of impossibility to stay in town. The Secretariat will give you further information about all the available accomodation after receiving your application form.

Meals:
You can find various restaurants and inns at different prices in Coccaglio and in its neighbourhood. There you can taste the quite good local cuisine.

The Municipal Administration and the Secretariat of the competition will be glad to offer the competitors the best reception and their own structures for the good course of the initiative.

The enrolment in the laboratory meeting gives the right to free participation in all concerts from 2nd to 11th September 1999. The tickets for the concerts can be bought at the Vecchia Pieve in Coccaglio, in the same days of the performances, or in advance at the Town Hall or at the Library in Coccaglio during the opening time.
