Although this program uses some contrafacta, that aspect is well done, and there is also some compelling original troubadour material, in a sophisticated interpretive style.
The program includes a good mix of "greatest hits," sometimes reconfigured by an improvisatory practice, and lesser known material from the period. In particular, the result is evocative of the melodic style, and illustrates many of its characteristic tendencies. Interpretations themselves are based on long experience with the material, and bring a richness of detail in support of the melodic development.
