This is a fine selection of Josquin's chansons, although they do vary in quality. Josquin wasn't really the great chanson writer that Dufay (for example) was, but he did write some stimulating pieces.
The performances are generally good, although some tracks contain too much instrumental doubling and the articulation is somewhat cautious. Nonetheless, it was a notable achievement, and one whose vigorous phrasing continues to satisfy.
It remains somewhat surprising that there are not more programs devoted exclusively to Josquin's chansons. Although this rendition is still OK, it does seem more & more ripe for being superseded by a more polished & up-to-date interpretation. (And this has now partially happened with the recording focusing on instrumental music.)
