As with the other St. Anthony mass (for a different St. Anthony, in fact), this is a fairly straightforward lyrical cycle. It is also quite appealing melodically, and so although one of these cycles is probably sufficient for the list, I am opting to go with both.
The performance presents a nice alternative to Pomerium's "fuller" version, as the Binchois Consort continues to improve their command of this music. Here we have a more precise & sinewy rendition, with nice melodic continuity.
The Binchois tracks are also appealing, as Binchois' Latin music continues to receive relatively little attention.
