This is an interesting cycle from this early period which survives intact including melodies. As such, it is quite valuable, and the sacred-secular combination is also interesting. There are some good songs here, with some variety, but there is still some lack of scope.
The performance is good, using a pleasant combination of instruments. It is perhaps overly subdued, but is nonetheless an admirable rendition, if less compelling than this groups's next troubadour program. The fine points of articulation are handled well, although the presentation is not as emphatic as it could be.
The way the entire cycle unfolds takes prolonged exposure to appreciate, but it can definitely be rewarding.
