The "younger Dagar brothers" Nasir Zahiruddin Dagar (1933-1993) & Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar (1934-1990) still have the most impressive recorded discography.
The present rendition remains in many ways the supreme morning devotion, as it is particularly richly nuanced and well-paced. It builds slowly from the barely audible into triumphantly reserved flourishes and then the song itself which urges us not to be too smug in our intelligence.
