Continuing with the new format here, the notable recordings from last year, in chronological order by when I first heard them:
This list is longer than it was last year. And I do believe some intersections of the arts & the past continue to be relevant today, even with a crazy world getting crazier. Music — especially — has been about bringing people together, and moreover, reflects the basic texture of thought per se. (So music has been how we think together. And of course we need new music, new thought too.)
I also can't help but pick Agricola Masses as the overall selection, as it's some great music well sung. Some other releases do have the advantage of more novelty, however. And then the first album listed above apparently completes the distinguished discography of the Orlando Consort, so that's worth specifically noting too.
As usual, I'll await next year.... I really have no idea what to expect.
