Landini E I Suoi Contemporanei

Landini E I Suoi Contemporanei
Firenze Secolo XIV
Micrologus
Opus 111 30-112

This is another fine program, featuring some tracks that are rather different from those found on most other programs. There are also some good choices from among the better-known repertory.

The choice of instruments on some of the tracks may seem rather too Arabic, but overall it works well. The performances are executed with great conviction. The singing is superlative. Some of these tracks are among the best available for this repertory, while others are of lesser significance.

Among the less usual tracks, the madrigal by Masi is especially appealing, and may be the best song on the disc.

To medieval secular list.
