This recording presents some of Josquin's finest music, as well as a piece by one of his most important disciples, Nicolas Gombert (c.1500-1556). The mass is in an abstract style, with a cantus firmus derived from the name of the Duke of Ferrara. The other motets are among the most elaborate examples of the period.
