One might have expected that this packaging is complete, but there is actually another CD's worth of material to record. Whether that will ever happen is unknown.
I am writing this the day after Barbara Thornton's premature death (11/8/98). There is no question that this project will be a major legacy for some time to come, and it was Thornton as much as anyone who established Hildegard in the popular consciousness. It is surely unfortunate that she left the world shortly before the conclusion of her great artistic triumph, a recording of the complete works of Hildegard, but perhaps that will only serve to charge the project with a deeper meaning in the future.
